Today I want to share a story of love for design and handmade objects sustainably produced. It’s the story of a new venture called Crafture, a quarterly subscription box containing design items for the daily life. The idea is born just few months ago, in June, when Rafael (product designer) met María (marketing strategist) at a design event. Rafael told María this idea to create a curated surprise box filled with design items and in the blink of an eye they were already brainstorming for it.
The concept is simple but beautiful. At the beginning of each season you’ll receive a surprise box filled with unique items suitable for your daily life, workplace or home. Each object is crafted by designers and makers from all around the world. Crafture is for design lovers who want to support craftsmanship and a more ethical and sustainable way of consumption while indulging in a small surprise once in a while.
This project is moving its very first steps and is halfway through its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Just 10 days to go and it will be all or nothing! This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Saturday, October 26.
I support Crafture because I believe in products with a story to tell and I support designers and professionals who are working to make a positive impact in the world. This is a project inspired by a profound passion for well-designed and sustainable objects that are both useful and beautiful. I already had the chance to know Rafael’s work in 2016, at the time I was running my own design magazine The Design Pot. Its label, Oitenta, is a blend of design & craft and he is still committed to good quality design. It’s a pleasure seeing that nothing is changed in his approach and that he puts his belief in the new Crafture venture.
