4 ways to light up your bed and nightstands

Lighting is very important when it comes to making a space functional and cozy. It can literally make or break a space.

Our bedroom certainly asks for a layered lighting concept because we usually need ambient, decorative, as well as task lighting.

In this blog post, I’ve brought together 4 lighting ideas for bed and nightstands: hope you will find them inspiring and useful when planning your bedroom lighting concept.

Table lamps on nightstands

This is probably the most traditional way: two table lamps for nightstands providing task lighting. As a general rule of thumb, it’s always better to go for adjustable table lamps — especially if you love reading in bed.

Wall-mounted lamps

This is a way that is very en vogue right now. It’s the perfect solution if the bedroom is small or if you like to keep the bedroom decor as minimal yet functional as possible. It also works in case you decide to completely give up on having the classic bedside tables.

Floor lamps instead of table lamps

If space is not an issue, you can choose floor lamps instead of table lamps. It’s an original decor solution and one of the main benefits is that you would have both directional and ambient light (just make sure to choose lamps with adjustable arms or heads).

Bedside pendant lamps

Usually hung at table-lamp height, bedside pendant lamps are a creative alternative to conventional task lamps and free up space on your bedside table. My advice is to choose lamps that provide diffuse light (with or without lampshade).
