Beach towels for price conscious people (0-35 €)
A small budget doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. From geometric shapes to flower patterns and whimsical prints, the following brands give you plenty of options at affordable prices.
I discovered this brand some years ago while looking for a beach bag (they have beautiful and extra-large ones). Specialized in all things beachwear and accessories, their huge collection with combed cotton beach towels have an evergreen, fresh style and offers many colors you can choose from. Price: 35€. Dimensions: 95x165cm. Tip: this is a 2-in-1 product since you can also wear it as a bikini wrap cover-up.

If you can’t stand a sandy towel, the quick-dry microfiber towels from Dock & Bay might the option for you. All their towels come in two sizes (L 160×80 cm and XL 200×90 cm) and include a handy pouch. It’s not the softest beach towel but dries 3 times faster than a standard cotton one and is super absorbent. Lots of colors and patterns available. Price: from 19 to 22€ depending on the size.

Turkish towels (also known as Fouta towels) are very versatile and can be also worn as beach wraps. At Laguna Beach Textile Company they have a collection of Turkish beach towels in subtle colors that are a bit thicker than the typical ones: 400 gsm of cotton to guarantee extra absorption. Dimensions: 101×178 cm. Price: 28 €.

Mid-range budget beach towels (36-70€)
Usually, with an increase in the price comes higher quality and/or innovative textiles features. When it comes to beach towels Australians do it better! And this section encompasses some of my favorite brands from down under.
I love their style! I know they come from Australia, but their beach towels make me think about Normandy and Nordic beaches. They have both rectangular and round towels made of 100% soft cotton. Price range: from 33 to 60€ depending on the model. Tip: they are also perfect as outdoor home textiles for your patio or balcony. Get inspired by my in-depth guide on how to make the most of your balcony (and outdoor space).

They are pretty popular for their sand-free beach towels AbsorbLite™ fabric. This fabric, a kind of microfiber, allows for sand-free, ultra-absorbent, and lightweight towels. Most of them cost 49€ and measure 80x160cm. Tip: they also have oversized towels for 2 (160×160 cm, price 89€).

From Copenhagen with love, this brand creates accessories for women who love playful and personal designs. They have a small collection (only 4 models) of beach towels in soft hues but are made of high-quality cotton. They are very light which makes them perfect when traveling. Dimensions: 100×200 cm or 100×180 cm. Price: 49€.

The luxury option (+70€)
Luxury beach towels are usually more complex in terms of weaving techniques, textile quality and are often made in limited editions. Here below a selection of 3 brands that may tempt you.
Even though Switzerland is called the «landlocked island» because it has no access to the sea, the Badi culture is a thing here. ZigZagZurich is a brand for those of you looking for artsy beach towels, designed in collaboration with young artists and illustrators. Their towels are made of 100% woven cotton jacquard and available in many vibrant colors. Size: 90×140 cm. Price: from 79€ to 99€ depending on the model. Tip: don’t miss their double-face towels.

Missoni needs no introductions. The brand has been a pioneer in colorful knitwear designs and the home collection is no exception. Beach towels are made blending lines and cotton or in cotton depending on the collection. Often finished with fringes. Price: from 122€ to 169€. Pics below show you a brand new model called Yamila, due to be launched soon.

They come from Iceland and are called «sea blankets» because they are made of wool double knitted into long strips, then hand cut into ‘waves’. These blankets are hardy, lightweight, warm, and water-repellent. I know it’s not your regular beach towel, but I think they are perfect if you are heading North and need something warmer. Even during Summer. Dimensions: Large: 242×265 cm, Small: 240×162 cm. Price: 584€. Tip: the wool comes from Icelandic sheep, evolved over more than 1,000 years in complete isolation. That’s why their wool is a unique combination of fiber.
